What is an interventional cardiologist?

As an interventional cardiologist, you diagnose and treat serious cardiac conditions using percutaneous surgery methods, in which you insert a tiny catheter through a major blood vessel, typically in a patient’s thigh, to guide medical instruments to the heart. Your job duties include repairing aortic, mitral, and septal valves, performing angioplasty procedures to clear blockages from the coronary artery, and handling the replacement of stents and miniature defibrillators and pacemakers. Your skills and medical knowledge help save people’s lives.
