What is an energy analyst?

An energy analyst is responsible for monitoring energy usage for companies or governmental bodies. Beyond the general responsibilities of an energy analyst, some duties specifically pertain to certain types of analyst jobs. For instance, some energy analysts focus solely on monitoring and improving technology to increase the efficiency of sourcing certain types of energy production, like oil and gas. Other jobs are focused on how to decrease energy bills for a large business or how to reduce the consumption of energy through coal and fossil fuels by turning to wind power and the like. Energy analysts are keen problem solvers who have a deep understanding of energy markets.
