An EMT-Basic job is an entry-level position in the emergency medical technician field. You are a first responder to emergency calls and provide treatment for injuries and illness. Your responsibilities are to safely and quickly arrive at the location given, assess the situation, search for medical identification, and assist the patient with appropriate treatment. Your duties include ventilating patients, administering CPR, opening and maintaining an airway, providing therapy for shock, controlling bleeding, bandaging wounds, assisting with psychological crises, coaching emergency childbirth, and more, all while staying calm and professional. You also restock and clean equipment after each incident.
