An allergist is a doctor that focuses primarily on the treatment of allergies or other types of immunodeficiency diseases, such as asthma, hay fever, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. As an allergist, your primary duties include diagnosing conditions, finding causes, and helping your patient manage their disorders, whether through medicine or other treatments. Many allergists begin as internal medicine doctors and then specialize in immunology.
