What is a textile chemist?

A textile chemist applies technical knowledge of chemistry to the production and manufacture of textiles, such as clothes and furniture. In this role, your job duties may focus on a specific part of the process, such as dyeing, quality assurance, or research and development of new techniques or fibers. Qualifications for a career as a textile chemist include a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and experience with textile materials. In some positions, an advanced degree is necessary.
