What is a senior quality engineer?

A Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for testing the functionality of technical components or products for their company. As a quality engineer, your job duties include developing testing scripts, performing functional testing as part of the development team, and documenting any defects that you discover. The qualifications needed for a career as a senior quality engineer include a bachelor’s degree in quality, mechanical, or industrial engineering and as many as seven years of experience. Some employers may prefer a master’s degree. You also need solid analytical skills and experience testing a variety of complex technical components or products.
