What is a segment producer?

A segment producer manages a short segment of a TV program. Many TV shows run in a 'reference book' format with discrete sections, often forming multiple plotlines per episode. Reality TV shows and newscasts rely heavily on segment producers to create different parts that flow together. As a segment producer, you schedule interviews with guests, review scripts, and collaborate with crew members to create a seamless viewing experience. In some positions, segment producers also edit footage to tell the story or vignette concisely while meeting tight deadlines.
