What is a NOC analyst?

A NOC analyst, or network operations center analyst, provides technical support for end users of a computer network or program. As a NOC analyst, your job duties include monitoring systems operations, troubleshooting systems problems, network outages, and software issues, and reporting to development teams when persistent, unfixable problems occur. You also document your work per company policies and procedures. The career typically requires strong technical ability and prior work experience monitoring and maintaining network systems, servers, or storage. Additional qualifications include professional program certifications (such as Microsoft or Cisco Systems), excellent customer service skills, and problem-solving ability. Some employers may also require an educational background in informational technology, computer science, or a related field.
