What is a grain elevator worker?

A grain elevator worker assists in the operation of a grain elevator, where grains are transported from a farmer and stored in bulk until someone makes a purchase. Your responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks and rail cars, running tests, monitoring the condition of stored grain, cleaning the facilities, and completing equipment maintenance as needed. You grade the grain quality by running tests that measure moisture content, check for foreign material and mold, and measure the weight of each loaded truck. You then record all test results and necessary information into a computer. You also run the grain through the elevator equipment, using a spout to direct each grain type and grade into the correct bins.
