What is a defense analyst?

A defense analyst uses their analytical skills to review information associated with global and domestic security threats. This job also refers to someone who performs analysis of criminal justice law and its administration in defense of an accused individual. As a defense analyst, your job duties include analyzing intelligence data, preparing reports, and making recommendations for military training and military spending. The qualifications to begin a career as a defense analyst include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a quantitative field. You also need experience working with and evaluating large volumes of sensitive data. Because government agencies employ defense analysts, you must possess an active security clearance or be eligible to obtain it for this job.
