A data consultant creates and implements new big data strategies to optimize data systems and technology. Strong technical skills are necessary for this career. You must have up-to-date knowledge of all the most current data tools and industry changes. The career requires at least a bachelor’s degree, usually in computer science or information technology. Prior work experience, preferably in a leadership or management role, is vital. Additional qualifications are strong communication skills for face-to-face meetings and writing detailed reports.
