What is a companion?

A companion is a hired caretaker who assists their employer in daily activities and keeps them company. Companions often have a nursing background, but that is not required. A big heart and the desire to be a caregiver are the primary qualifications. The responsibilities of a companion are to provide meals, tidy up, and accompany their employer through their day-to-day activities. They are providers of emotional support as well, listening to their employer’s stories, offering support, and engaging in their favorite hobbies.
