What is a classroom aide?

A classroom aide provides support to a teacher to improve the learning environment for students in a school. As a classroom aide, your job duties include gathering and preparing materials for lessons, supervising students during teacher breaks, providing small group instruction, and chaperoning field trips. The minimum qualifications for a career as a classroom aide are a high school diploma or GED certificate and experience working with children in an education setting. However, schools often prefer job seekers with an associate degree in a relevant field and proven teaching skills.
