What is a chiropractor?
Career: Alternative Medicine
Chiropractors manually manipulate the spinal column in order to promote whole body health and healing. As a chiropractor, you help patients with back and neck pain and injuries from sports, car accidents, and similar issues. To become a chiropractor, you must have a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. They generally take four or more years to complete and focus on learning how the body works. This includes in-depth anatomy courses that focus on the spine, as well as other science courses. You finish your training with an internship, which gives you hands-on experience with patients. Most states require you to have a license before you can begin working unsupervised.
