A child protective investigator is a social worker who investigates allegations of child abuse or neglect. As a child protective investigator, you assess, identify, and document abuse and neglect cases, as well as find appropriate services to improve child welfare. Your duties may include interviewing children and caretakers, placing children in foster care, and finding adoptive homes for children. Child protective investigators may also consult with law enforcement or the judicial system, testify in court, and write reports based on their findings.
