What is underground mining?

Career: Underground Miner

Underground mining is the process of obtaining materials that lay further underground and can’t be accessed through simple excavation or surface mining. There are two types of underground mining: underground hard rock mining and underground soft rock mining. Hard rock or hard mineral mining refers to mining using techniques that help excavate hard minerals and metals like those that contain gold, silver, zinc, copper, and lead. Soft rock mining uses different methods to excavate soft materials like salt, coal, and oil. It’s an underground miner’s job to facilitate these processes.
