What is teleradiology?

Career: Teleradiology

Teleradiology is the practice of the digital transmission of diagnostic medical images, such as X-rays, MRIs, and CTs, between health care practitioners. The aim is to aid with diagnoses by allowing specialists immediate access to a patient’s medical scans. By providing many different physicians and surgeons with all the available information, these practitioners can save time by not having to travel to other medical facilities to assess images, which is especially helpful for small hospitals that have fewer radiology specialists on hand. Teleradiology is also increasingly common in veterinary medicine for the same reasons.
