Career: Plasma Physics
Plasma physics is the scientific study of charged particles and fluids, particularly as they interact with magnetic and electric fields. This field has two primary categories. The first focuses almost entirely on research, such as how charged particles interact with different materials. The second focuses on practical applications, especially as it relates to space, controlled fusion, energy production, and consumer products. For example, you can use plasma in neon signs and televisions. Plasma is a naturally-occurring state of matter, but it is difficult to produce or test without specialized equipment, so most plasma physics work takes place in laboratories. Plasma physics is not related to the behavior of blood plasma, which is an entirely different field of study.
