What is investor relations?

Career: Investor Relations

Investor relations (IR) is a field that includes all communication and interaction between corporate management and investors for a company. Some common responsibilities include scheduling meetings with investors, releasing information to the public, crisis management, offering feedback to management, and focusing on the financial aspects of a company. Most publicly traded organizations have departments designated to track compliance with financial investment reporting laws. In an IR career, you should expect to attend conferences, road shows, meetings, and other events that allow your employer or client to stay updated on market trends and maintain relationships with the public. In this department, you also provide feedback on stock purchases, investment impacts, and overall company performance.
