What is dermatology?

Career: Dermatology Physician Assistant

Dermatology is the field of medicine that encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of medical issues related to skin, nails, and hair. Dermatologists are trained to work in a clinical setting, examining patients, diagnosing illnesses, and prescribing treatments. A Dermatologist is also trained in surgical procedures related to the skin, such as removing growths and skin cancer. Perhaps the most important aspect of dermatology is preventative medicine. Dermatologists work hard to educate their patients regarding how best to avoid and prevent skin-related illness and injury.
