What does an independent driver do?

As an independent driver, you drive a truck to transport cargo. You own your business and operate as a contractor, contracting with clients instead of being a direct employee. Responsibilities include transporting goods on schedule, navigating along ideal routes respective to traffic and weather conditions, and loading and unloading the truck. Other duties include completing all required paperwork, stopping at weigh stations as required, billing clients and other bookkeeping tasks, ensuring appropriate receipt of delivery, and maintaining your truck.
