Career: Educational Advisor
As an educational advisor, your job is to provide advice on education plans to students in high school and college. Educational advisors typically work for schools, but you can also work with nonprofits and other groups that provide support services to students. In this role, you may act as an academic advisor to offer suggestions for classes, help students with the admissions process for a college, provide crisis intervention of students in difficult situations, and consult with parents, teachers, and other professionals to resolve behavioral and academic problems. Educational advisors also help identify cases of domestic abuse, provide one-on-one counseling, and support career planning efforts.
