What does an acoustical ceiling installer do?

As an acoustical ceiling installer, your job is to help install ceiling materials that improve a building's noise reduction coefficient (NRC) by helping to absorb and disperse sound waves. Despite the suggestions of the job title, this position does not focus on improving the acoustics of concert halls and other venues where noise matters, as acoustical ceilings focus entirely on limiting sound. As part of this job, you may install drywall, help choose the equipment and materials for each construction job, determine which tools are necessary, and read blueprints to determine where to install each type of acoustical ceiling. Some structures use multiple types of ceiling materials, so the ability to switch between tools and techniques as needed is essential to your success.
