What does a temporary pharmacist do?

Pharmacies hire temporary pharmacists when they are short-staffed or to fill a specific role while they search for a full-time pharmacist. As a temporary pharmacist, your job duties are similar to a staff pharmacist. You review and fill patient prescriptions, discuss medication side-effects, and check the patient's records for possible drug interactions. Depending on your employer, you may also supervise other pharmacy staff, train new hires, and oversee operations to ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. While many temporary pharmacists work at retail pharmacies, some work in specialized areas, such as hospital pharmacies or in research labs, where you have little patient interaction.
