What does a stylist assistant do?

A stylist assistant helps a lead stylist in their daily tasks. This assistant position can either be with a hair stylist in a salon, or with a fashion stylist, assisting at photo shoots and other events. As an assistant to a hairdresser, your duties include washing and drying clients’ hair, gathering supplies, and keeping the salon clean. As a stylist assistant in the fashion industry, your responsibilities can vary from job to job. Primarily, your duties are to make sure the fashion stylist has all of the appropriate clothes and accessories on hand, as well as assisting in the makeup and dressing of models. In both roles, assistants usually aspire to become stylists and use this opportunity to learn all they can about the industry in which they work.
