A student accounting assistant is typically someone enrolled in a bookkeeping or accounting program at a college or university who assists the school’s accounting supervisor with financial tasks to learn necessary on-the-job skills and responsibilities. Your duties are to work in the finance department for a school to track and record each transaction in a student account, create a payment invoice for tuition, send and receive bills and other mail, file paperwork, assist students with student loan options and deferments, and issue refunds. You may also perform other clerical duties, like answering phone calls about an account and operating and maintaining office equipment.
