What does a plumbing instructor do?

A plumbing instructor provides training and hands-on experience to a plumbing student or an apprentice. Your responsibilities in this career can differ slightly depending on whether you work at a vocational school, community college, or a formal apprenticeship program sponsored by a trade association or labor union. However, most of your duties are similar. A plumbing instructor’s role is to teach students the fundamentals of plumbing, how to install, service, and repair plumbing equipment, and how to use different tools of the trade. Most programs include a classroom portion and a hands-on portion, so you may be responsible for either or both of these sections.
