A manufacturing technologist works to implement designs, develop tools, and incorporate computer technology into machine development to help ensure manufacturing processes remain effective and efficient. As a manufacturing technologist, your daily duties include preparing layouts or sketches of machinery, planning and scheduling production, estimating manufacturing costs, verifying weights and measurements, and operating complex equipment. Additional responsibilities may include training other technicians on safety requirements and regulations regarding new or newly updated equipment. Manufacturing technologists are sometimes referred to as manufacturing engineering technologists.
