What does a football coach do?

Football Coach positions span several levels and a variety of responsibilities. Football Coaches can work in high school and college environments as well as in the National Football League (NFL). The highest Football Coach role is the head coach; this individual manages the other coaches on the team and designs the overall strategy for the players. NFL head coaches and college head coaches often speak on behalf of their organizations for media outlets. College and high school coaches are also responsible for the academic eligibility of their student-athletes. Besides a head coach, there are also Football Coach positions in subsections of each football team including the offensive line, the defensive line, and special teams. All Football Coaches, no matter their exact responsibilities, provide mentorship for and monitor the physical progress of their players.
