What does a cable installer do?

As a cable installer, your job is to help install, repair, and maintain a wired telecommunication system. As part of building the network, you may wire areas together, use equipment to measure and cut the lengths of cables, and test systems to ensure they are functioning properly. Telecommunication companies that want to run telephone, television, and internet to customers' houses offer most cable installer positions. However, a few cable installer jobs exist in other roles. For example, some cable installers specialize in secure facilities and must go through a rigorous background check. Cable installers typically work in an assigned geographic area throughout the year. Hours are usually regular, but on rare occasions, you may be asked to provide emergency repairs or support for the community.
