What does a beekeeper assistant do?

As a beekeeper assistant, your job is to help manage colonies or hives of bees. This job may include gathering honey, raising bees to help with pollination in farming areas, or helping create specialty products from honey or honeycomb. In most cases a beekeeper assistant is the same as a regular beekeeper, but with less experience. Beekeepers are also known as apiarists, but most employers do not use this as the formal title. Depending on the needs of your employer, you may help divide colonies and construct hives. A beekeeper assistant may work nights, weekends, or holidays to protect and preserve hives as necessary. Companies may advertise this position as an entry-level beekeeper.
