An imaging technician works with medical equipment to aid in clinical diagnostic practices. As an imaging technician, you take X-ray and ultrasound images and provide them to doctors for diagnosis. Duties include preparing and positioning patients, helping analyze images, and maintaining patient records. Qualifications include certification in imaging and working with various diagnostic machines. The medical imaging equipment doesn’t change often, but you must keep up with current equipment and go through training to learn safety procedures. Because you interact with patients of varying ages and backgrounds, you must have excellent customer service skills and work with consistent attention to detail. The most popular specializations of this career are sonography and radiation.
