What are medical humanities programs?

Medical humanities classes are part of a bachelor’s or master’s degree program. These courses of study combine health care, medicine, and social sciences with courses in subjects like ethics, philosophy, anthropology, and art. Professors explore the human, cultural, and philosophical aspects of healthcare. As a student in one of these courses, your goal is to learn empathy and ethics and gain an understanding of the socio-cultural aspects of healthcare. These programs prepare students to enter medical school or another medical degree program. Medical humanities classes are often part of a pre-med or pre-pharmacy undergraduate program.
