What is an HFT job?

HFT stands for high-frequency trading, a specialized form of trading that uses software and algorithms to buy and sell stock very quickly. Jobs in this area have titles like senior trader, algorithmic trader, and quant trader. In these roles, you trade stocks based on computer-generated predictions, but your responsibilities also include performing research and analysis. You develop trading strategies to generate profits for your firm, and your duties include engaging in data analysis and modeling and working to optimize exchange simulators. However, your primary responsibilities are focused on continually refining your trading algorithms to maximize revenue.
