What is an auto body technician?

Auto body technicians are a specialized type of mechanic. In this career, you work primarily with electronic parts of a car or other vehicle. Typically, an auto technician can perform many of the same duties as a mechanic, but you also use specialized equipment to perform diagnostics on computer systems. Unlike a mechanic, who can work on a variety of engines and mechanical systems, an auto body technician is trained to assess and repair systems that may be specific to a brand or make of car.
