What is a Volunteer RN?

Volunteer Registered Nurses (RNs) are licensed nurses who offer their skills and services without financial compensation, often in hospitals, clinics, community health events, disaster relief efforts, or non-profit organizations. They perform many of the same duties as paid RNs, such as administering medication, providing patient care, educating communities, and supporting other medical staff. Volunteering allows RNs to give back to their communities, gain diverse experience, and sometimes fulfill continuing education or licensure requirements. Most organizations require volunteer RNs to have an active RN license and may conduct background checks or require orientation.
