What does a video assist operator do?

A Video Assist Operator is responsible for managing the video playback and monitoring systems on a film or television set. They capture, record, and play back footage for the director, cinematographer, and other crew members to review scenes immediately after filming. This allows the creative team to check continuity, performance, and technical aspects before moving on to the next shot.
