What is a TRIO program?

TRIO programs are a group of federally funded outreach and student services initiatives in the United States designed to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. These programs aim to help low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs. TRIO includes several distinct programs such as Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services, each providing tutoring, counseling, mentoring, financial guidance, and other support services.
