What is a remote CPhT?

A remote CPhT is a Certified Pharmacy Technician who works from a location outside of a traditional pharmacy, often from home. Their duties typically include processing prescriptions, communicating with patients and healthcare providers, managing medication inventories, and assisting pharmacists—all through digital platforms or phone systems. Remote CPhTs leverage technology to perform many of the same tasks as in-person pharmacy technicians, offering flexibility to both employees and employers. This role is increasingly popular in mail-order pharmacies, telepharmacy services, and pharmacy benefit management companies. Remote CPhTs must still hold valid certification and licensure in their state and comply with all relevant regulations.
