What is RBC?

Career: Rbc

RBCs, or Red Blood Cells, are a type of blood cell responsible for carrying oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body and returning carbon dioxide to the lungs to be exhaled. They contain a protein called hemoglobin that binds to oxygen, enabling this essential transport process. RBCs are produced in the bone marrow and have a typical lifespan of about 120 days. Proper RBC levels are crucial for maintaining healthy tissues and overall bodily function. An imbalance in RBC count can indicate various medical conditions, such as anemia or polycythemia.
