What is an Os cook?

OS Cooks, or Ordinary Seaman Cooks, are crew members on ships who are responsible for preparing and cooking meals for the crew and sometimes passengers. In addition to their cooking duties, they may also assist with galley cleaning, inventory management, and ensuring food safety standards are met. OS Cooks typically work under the supervision of a Chief Cook or Steward and play a vital role in maintaining the well-being and morale of everyone onboard. This position often requires basic culinary skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging maritime environment.
