MDO stands for Medical Doctor of Osteopathy, also known as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). These professionals are fully licensed physicians who practice in all areas of medicine, including primary care, surgery, and specialties. MDOs receive training similar to MDs (Doctors of Medicine) but also receive additional instruction in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), which focuses on the musculoskeletal system. They emphasize a holistic approach to patient care, considering the whole person rather than just symptoms.
