What is an LTAC RN?

LTAC RNs, or Long-Term Acute Care Registered Nurses, are specialized nurses who provide care for patients with complex medical needs requiring extended hospital stays, usually in a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH). These nurses manage patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries, often involving ventilator care, wound management, and rehabilitation. They work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, monitor patient progress, and provide education and support to patients and their families. LTAC RNs require strong critical thinking skills and experience in acute or critical care settings.
