What is an LCN?

LCN stands for 'Low Copy Number,' which typically refers to a DNA profiling technique used in forensic science. LCN DNA analysis is used to detect and analyze very small amounts of DNA, sometimes from as few as a handful of cells. This technique allows forensic scientists to generate DNA profiles from trace evidence found at crime scenes. However, because of its sensitivity, LCN analysis must be performed carefully to avoid contamination and ensure accurate results.
