To get a welding job, you need a number of qualifications, including some vocational training. Most metal workers and welders have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Aspiring welders should enroll at community colleges or vocational schools where you can get practical experience with welding equipment and other skills necessary for the work. Others may begin work directly out of high school, receiving training on the job from more senior welders.
