How to become an SSHO?

Acquiring a position as an SSHO requires experience working on construction sites in various roles for at least five years. Other qualifications include taking an OSHA SSHO course that certifies you as knowledgeable in construction safety. You can also become a CHST, a construction health and safety technician, which requires ten years of past safety work in construction. As a CHST, you have the top level of skills to be an SSHO. However, completing the OSHA course still qualifies you to be an SSHO, although obtaining a job can be more difficult without extensive construction safety and project experience.
