How to become an overhead crane inspector?

Qualifications for an overhead crane inspector include a high school diploma or GED certificate, five years of experience as a mechanic, and an overhead crane inspector certification. Many employers prefer you to have at least one year of experience operating and repairing cranes, and you must be able to conduct load certification tests. It is critical to have a background in AC and DC electromechanical and motor control systems, an aptitude for mechanics, the ability to use safety testing equipment, as well as read and use manufacturer repair manuals and schematics. You must fully understand OSHA safety standards, local regulations, and manufacturer recommendations. Communication skills, both written and verbal are necessary, including on the phone and through email. You must have basic computer skills, the ability to work at heights and outdoors in various weather conditions, and have a valid driver’s license.
