How to become an optometric assistant?

An optometric assistant is an entry-level position at an optometrist office. There are few qualifications for this position, as you complete most of your training on the job. However, most employers prefer an associate degree or a certificate from a vocational school. Your duties require you to be familiar with the procedures of an eye exam and understand the general policies regarding patient care in an eye glasses store. Certification through the American Optometric Association is available after working six months in optometry and passing an examination. Your responsibilities in this career are to continue your skills training to further your career.
