In order to become an Invasive Cardiologist, you will need to complete years of extensive schooling, which includes a bachelor’s degree and four years of medical school. Then you will have to participate in about seven years of specialized training. This includes a three-year residency, a three-year fellowship in cardiology, and usually one year of invasive cardiology fellowship for specialized training. Some Invasive Cardiologists specialize in treating pediatric cases, which may affect where you complete your residency. After finishing your residency, you can become certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine. Once you gain your education, experience, and certification, you will be ready to practice cardiology on your own.
