How to become an expert witness?

Career: Expert Witness

Being an expert witness is not exactly a career, and the qualifications to become an expert witness generally depend on the qualifications required to enter the specific field in which you work. For example, if you want to be a forensic biologist, you need to have at least a bachelor's degree. You often need an advanced degree or significant career experience in your field before a firm considers you an “expert” and contacts you to testify at a trial. Many academics, legal scholars, law enforcement agency specialists, medical scholars, and experts in criminal law and psychology are called upon to provide expert opinions in trials.
